HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Delta Airlines says a power outage in Atlanta has impacted Delta computer systems and operations worldwide. The website says customers should expect large-scale cancellations today.

Passengers all over the country were delayed Monday morning as Delta crews tried to figure out the power outage. The outage began in Atlanta around 2:30 a.m. eastern time. It impacted Delta computer systems and operations worldwide.

One longtime passenger, Beth Reid, says she flies Delta often. “I don’t know if I’m gonna get anywhere today,” said Reid. “They’re doing the best they can. They’ve got a great attitude, they’ve protected me on a second flight out of Atlanta in case I am delayed getting into Atlanta to meet my connection.”

Reid says despite the rough morning — “If anything, I’m impressed with how they’ve reacted under pressure. They’ve done a great job, made me feel good about flying their airline,” said Reid.

A few hours later around 10:30 a.m. Monday, Delta canceled 300 flights and had only operated 800 out of the 6,000 flights that were scheduled. Delta Airlines says systems are coming back online, but delays and cancellations will continue throughout the day.
